Can I Unlock iPhone 3GS without Losing GPS Using Gevey SIM?

Hi guys, is there a way to unlock my iPhone 3GS without losing its GPS functionally? I am using an iPhone 3GS with baseband 05.14.02. Can I unlock this phone using Ultrasn0w or with Gevey SIM? By the way, I am currently locked on O2.

Hello Fletcher, unlocking your iPhone 3Gs using the latest version of Ultrasn0w software-based carrier unlocking tool (by updating its baseband to iPad 6.15.00) will automatically lose the GPS functionality of your iPhone 3GS, and there’s no exception to it. And there’s no available fix for this issue at the moment. You can check this blog post on how to unlock iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.3.3 using Redsn0w and Ultrasn0w.

On the other hand, there’s no way you can unlock your iPhone 3GS using the hardware-based Gevey SIM Pro. This is primarily because iPhone 3GS does not support micro-SIM card.

Anyway, since your iPhone is locked from O2, you can request your carrier to unlock your iPhone. In this way, you will be able to unlock the iPhone without jailbreaking it, therefore you will not lose the GPS functionality of the iPhone 3GS. To do that, all you have to do is fill up this O2 unlocking form and wait for their confirmation.
