Spotlight Search Not Working After iOS 5.0.1 Software Update on iPhone 4

I have recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1 and after updating I noticed that my Spotlight search feature stopped working. Well, I can still enter a text but the auto-lookup doesn’t work and it displays no result when searching. Any available fix for this bug?

Hello Vince, are you rocking jailbroken iPhone 4? Have you installed any search related jailbreak app or tweak on your device from Cydia Store? If yes, then please uninstall them on your iOS device and then check your device if it gets fixed. Or, try to hard reset as well as tethered boot your iPhone using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 tethered boot utility. Additionally, some users were reporting that closing all applications in background will fix this error.

In addition to this, some iOS device users over at Apple Support forums reported that this error could be fixed by unchecking all all the spotlight search items in the General setting. Then after unchecking, you should reboot your device and then recheck all options. Lastly, you can try to restore your iPhone to the stock iOS 5.0.1 firmware (do not restore from backup as there is possibility that you have to backup some corrupted data). Then after restoring, you can refer to this guide on how to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8.

If you still got the same error after performing all these steps, then I would recommend you to restore your iPhone again to stock iOS 5.0.1 and then take it to the nearest AT&T or Apple Store for warranty repair. Good luck!
