Should I Keep Installous & AppSync on iPhone or Just Uninstall Them?

Greetings Jaxov and Happy New Year! As most of the jailbreak community already knows, Hackulous has unexpectedly shut down and this means piracy apps, such as Installous and AppSync, are gone as well. So my question is...and I'm sure most people would like to it worth keeping Installous and AppSync installed on my iPhone? Or should I go ahead and delete it and save precious space? I don't want to keep Cydia apps I don't use or benefit from, as I don't want to turn my device into a bloated mess. So, based on how things are going, should I keep or uninstall Installous on my iPhone? Thank you so much for your input!

Hello Rene! Yes, Hackulous is no more and it's taking its most popular apps like Installous and AppSync with it. However, as for your main question on whether to keep or uninstall these apps, my recommendation is to keep them! In case you aren't aware, there are Installous alternatives out there that'll enable you to download cracked apps for free. And there are some that depend on these apps, in order for them to work...or at least aid with installation.

vShare Installous Alternative

For example, an Installous alternative called vShare depends on Installous for installing the app. To put it clearly, the IPA file of vShare can be easily installed via Installous. Although once you've installed vShare, it won't need the app again. Another alternative called iFunbox relies on another app from Hackulous, which is AppSync. You can use iFunbox to install the IPA files you've downloaded but if you're installing and running cracked apps, you will need AppSync.

These are just some of the cases where Hackulous apps are used. Although these apps may be down for good, some alternatives depend on them or it makes things easier to use them. So, if you still want to download cracked apps to your iPhone, I would recommend keeping Installous and AppSync on your device. If you want to do away with using Installous and AppSync for good, then you can use a standalone Installous alternative, like AppCake.

Anyway, it's possible other developers will pick up where the Hackulous team left off. It's not too far-fetched to see an updated version of Installous and AppSync in the future, especially when a stable untethered iOS 6 jailbreak arrives. Hi, you can delete your Cydia sources by tapping Manage > Sources > Edit > tap the red icon that will appear then Delete. This should uninstall Hackulous for you. Hope this helps!
