Jailbroken iPhone 4 No SIM Card Error After Restoring Custom iOS 5.0.1

Hi folks! I am having a terrible issue on my iPhone 4. Recently, I have restored my iPhone 4 to custom iOS 5.0.1 after experiencing some app crashes on iOS 5 firmware. Aside from app crashes, I also experienced poor network signals on iOS 5. So I used Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 to create iOS 5.0.1 custom firmware and then restored it using iTunes. Then after restoring I encountered “No SIM Card Installed” error. I already tried to reset my network settings as well as eject and re-insert my SIM card but no success. What else do I need to do to fix this? Thanks.

Hello Norman, it seems like you will need to re-seat your iPhone’s SIM card properly. Just power OFF your iOS device and then remove your SIM card, clean it with rubber eraser, and then pop it into your jailbroken iPhone 4. By the way, are you using Gevey SIM hardware-based unlock? Or you are just preserving the old unlockable baseband of your iPhone? If yes, then I would recommend you to remove Gevey SIM on your iPhone and then tethered boot your iPhone using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8’s Just Boot option. If this didn’t work, then just rejailbreak your iPhone and restore the custom iOS 5.0.1. Please do a clean restore this time i-e do not restore from backup, as you have some corrupted files save on your backup.

If you still got the same error after performing the aforementioned tips, then the only solution available is to restore your iPhone to the stock iOS 5.0.1. Unfortunately, this process will update the baseband of your iPhone and there’s no way you will be able to downgrade it and you will not be able to unlock your iPhone form its contracted mobile phone carrier using Gevey SIM. That’s it! Good luck.
