SpringBoard Crashed After Installing WinterBoard on iOS 5

Hi, my jailbroken iPhone 4 keeps crashing after installing WinterBoard last week. I have already installed Winterfix to bypass the error but it only helped me to freeze my device after respringing. So I connected my iPhone to iTunes to restore it but then it got stuck in recovery mode loop! My iPhone was jailbroken using Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 on iOS 5. Any idea what’s going on? Thanks.

Hello Paul, well, there’s no way you will be able to fix this error using Winterfix. The only solution available is by updating / installing the latest version of WinterBoard. Just recently, Jay Freeman (aka Saurik) has rolled out the latest version of WinterBoard that is fully compatible for the new iOS 5 firmware and it is available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Anyway, before you update, you should kick your iPhone out of recovery mode loop. But this time I would recommend you to use Redsn0w 0.9.9b6, which you can be downloaded from here. After downloading the latest version of Redsn0w, just simply connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC and launch the downloaded application. Followed by clicking on the Extras and then select the Recovery fix option to kick your iPhone out of recovery mode loop. Then all you have to do is to wait for the process to complete and you will be able to use your iOS device after a minute or two.  If this doesn’t work, then you should use TinyUmbrella (Fix Recovery).

Once you have managed to kick your iPhone out of recovery mode, just simply launch Cydia and go to go to Changes to update your tweaks and packages. That’s it! Good luck.
