Put iPhone From Recovery to DFU Mode to Restore Custom IPSW [How-to-Guide]

While it is true that there are far too many advantages of jailbreaking to mention, there is no doubt that it can be quite too technical for many people to perform. You are bound to run into some problems which may seemingly unfixable at first. The trick is knowing the many modes that the iPhone goes into and how you can enter and exit them at will. Today we have a very simple tip for you that will enable you to let you jump from iPhone Recovery Mode to iPhone DFU Mode.

iPhone Recovery Mode to iPhone DFU Mode
The Recovery Mode is the state that the iPhone goes into when you are performing a basic iOS upgrade or restore. But if you are jailbreaking your device, you are likely to run into this mode for numerous reasons such as a botched jailbreak process. Now we have a simple tip for you that as mentioned earlier, will let your jump from the iPhone Recovery Mode to iPhone DFU Mode. How exactly do you do this?

Well it is quite simple really. Not many people know that you can actually jump straight into DFU Mode from Recovery Mode. The process is simply to perform the procedure that allows you to enter DFU Mode while running on normal iOS. That's right folks, it is the same process when you are using jailbreak tools such as Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze. That initially tricky process that requires a good bit of timing. Although most of you know this already, the process is provided below for the sake of information:

  • Hold the Power button for about 5 seconds.
  • Now press down the Home Button without releasing the Power button. Keep both button pressed for about 10 more seconds.
  • Now release the Power button but not the Home button. Keep the Home button pressed for 15 more seconds or so. Your device should be in DFU Mode afterwards.

iPhone DFU Mode
Remember that timing is key here because if you are off by just a few seconds, this might not work. Remember that Recovery Mode is rather different from DFU Mode. DFU is the mode that bypasses the bootloader which paves the way for processes like a firmware downgrade. You can't downgrade when it comes to the iPhone Recovery Mode, only restore or upgrade.
