iMAME: Arcade System Emulator for iOS, Now Available in App Store [iTunes Link]

Video game arcades are a major part of my childhood while growing up. Arcade centers are a common hangout after school and who knows just how much quarters I've squandered on those machines. Now if you are like me who appreciates a good old arcade game, good news for you because the App Store has a new app for arcade fans.

The name of the app in question is iMAME, which is basically MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) for the iOS. For those who are not familiar with MAME, it is an emulator software that's designed to recreate games that are played in arcade hardware. Since it is an emulator, we are not quite sure if this app meets Apple's strict App Store guidelines but nevertheless it can be found in the App Store now and it can be yours for free. Grab it now before Apple decides to yank it out of the App Store.

The app comes pre-packaged with "not so thrilling games" such as Circus, Crash, Hard Hat, Fire One, Robot Bowl, Side Track, Spectar, Star Fire and Targ. Fortunately, the app is an emulator and it works with just about any arcade system ROM, so you just need to use a utility such as iExplorer to add more ROMS into the application.

Due to potential legal issues, Apple does not take things too kindly when it comes to emulators on the App Store. Therefore, it is highly possible that iMAME will be removed from the App Store eventually but as of this writing iMAME is still available for download.

Update x1:  Well that didn't take long, iMAME has been pulled out of the App Store.
