Apple Finally Secures and Domain Names

In the past, there have been a considerable number of people who have made quite a good profit through domain squatting. This is the practice of purchasing cheap brand or product-related domains so one can sell it in the future to high profile companies for good profit. Apple is certainly no stranger to this kind of practice as it just recently purchased the domain and Now if you are going to visit this website, it will now redirect you to the iPhone 4 product page.

Domain for Sale
The selling price of the said transaction was undisclosed but it is safe to assume that it was anything but cheap. We have reported in the past that the former owner of got a whopping .5 million from Apple after selling the domain. Although in this case, the price should be lower especially when the iPhone 4 is already out more than a year ago.

Now this particular purchase of Apple of is quite baffling because the device has been out in the market for more than a year and has enjoyed a considerable amount of success. The Cupertino company is really quite unpredictable when it comes to acquiring valuable domain names. Also according to Fusible, Apple is also not the owner of iPhone5 and also iPhone6, iPhone7, iPhone8 and so on for that matter.

Another interesting fact is that Apple doesn't seem to own any iPad related domains. is currently registered to a someone and Apple hasn't made any move in order to purchase the domain even when the tablet is being sold for more than a year. As of now, the site enjoys a good influx of traffic even though it only redirects to an empty website with a "coming soon" sign. So it could be possible that some people have made it a business to squat in Apple branded domains hoping that the company will purchase it from them.

Back in 2007, Apple said to have paid more than a million dollars for acquiring the domain from some business man. So the criteria on which to domain Apple chooses to acquire is still quite a mystery for many of us. But for sure, squatting on Apple's domain can make you into an overnight millionaire.
