Fix iOS 4.3 MobileSubstrate in Cydia Manually [How-To Guide]

After jailbreaking iOS 4.3 on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad with Sn0wbreeze 2.3b1 or PwnageTool bundles, you will find MobileSubstrate broken on your iDevice. It is probably due to the new ASLR security technique adopted by Apple to make iDevices more secure against vulnerabilities described back in Pwn2Own contest 2010.

MobileSubstrate in Cydia

3 Steps to Fix iOS 4.3 MobileSubstrate in Cydia:

  1. Open Cydia and install afc2add app. You can easily find afc2add through ModMyi repo. Do not forget to reboot your iDevice after afc2add installation.
  2. Download iPhone Explorer for Windows or Mac OS X from here. Connect your iDevice to your computer via USB cable and launch iPhone Explorer.
  3. Download MobileSubstrate DEB file from here and place it into the following location using iPhone Explorer. Once done, reboot your iDevice using iBooty 2.0.1.
  4. /Root Directory/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

    iOS 4.3 Mobile Substrate

To confirm that you have the latest version of MobileSubstrate installed, navigate to Cydia > Manage > Packages > Click on Simple button > Scroll down to MobileSubstrate. After installing the correct and most updated version of MobileSubstrate, you can run Winterboard app on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad without any crashing issues.

Download MobileSubstrate v0.9.3367+6.g629fcfa | Mirror [Thanks FSM]

Means either your internet connection is too slow or Telesphoreo Tangelo repo is unavailable at that time.

Nops, there is no way to increase the connection speed. However, Cydia do support partial downloads. It means if you download 75% of any app and you lost the connection, next time you will download the app, it will start from 76%.
