Copy (Backup) DEB Files From Cydia to PC or Mac OS X [How-To Guide]

Ever thought of saving your Cydia apps to your PC or Mac? Most of you already know that Cydia apps comes in DEB (Debian Package) files and after installing the DEB file, Cydia automatically deletes it. This guide will teach you how to save DEB files to your PC or Mac before Cydia may delete them on the next reload. In this way, you can backup your installed Cydia apps so that you may re-install them in one go after a fresh firmware restore.

Cydia DEB File

*Only for those who prefer to SSH instead of using DiskAid or iPhone Explorer.

Steps to Save DEB From Cydia to Your PC or Mac OS X:

  1. Download iPhone Explorer from here
  2. Connect your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to your PC or Mac and wait while iPhone Explorer detects your iDevice.
  3. Navigate to the following location using iPhone Explorer
  4. /Root Directory/var/cache/apt/archives

No Cydia DEB - iPhone Explorer

  5. Open Cydia on your jailbroken iDevice
  6. Search, download and install any Cydia app but DO NOT CLOSE CYDIA once installation is complete.
  7. Click on the green refresh button in iPhone Explorer and you will see the downloaded DEB in Archives directory.
  8. Save Cydia DEB to Desktop

  9. Drag or copy the DEB file on your desktop.
  10. You can close Cydia app now. Next time when you will launch Cydia app, Cydia will delete the DEB from the Archives directory automatically.
  11. To install all DEBs you have saved on your PC or Mac, just browse to the following location and place all DEB files in AutoInstall directory.
  12. /Root Directory/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

  13. Do not forget to reboot your iDevice after placing the DEBs in AutoInstall directory.

NOTE: I discovered this method last night, so i have tested it only on my iPhone 4. I am sure it will work on all other jailbroken iDevices as well. If it do not work for your iDevice due to some reason, please list your problem and device name in the comments below.

The new URL for iOS8 is /var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.saurik.Cydia/archives Source:

Please re-check the cache location after upgrading to Cydia Installer 1.1.16.  I can no longer see any .deb files downloaded in /var/cache/apt/archives

Probably not. You will need to manually sync them back to your device once the update to iOS 5 is complete.

I have same problems with Celeste 4.3.1

After this I have this “The remote device does not support the OBEX Push Profile or it is currently disabled.

    How to I fix it???

      Pramod10 years, 1 month ago

The only way to fix this is by actually buying Celeste from the BigBoss repo for $10. As of now, none of the repos currently host a complete cracked version of Celeste & hence this error.
