Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Platform Preview, Available for Download Now

Today, Microsoft Internet Explorer General Manager Dean Hachamovitch unveiled Internet Explorer 9 platform preview build to developers at MIX10, IE9 would be successor to IE8. There is whole set of new features included in IE9, it will support new web technologies like HTML5 and GPU-based hardware acceleration.

Despite of many flaws and shortcomings Internet Explorer has, it still holds the crown of most used/popular browser. With other browsers (Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera) growing fast, Microsoft is really working hard to introduce new features in their next browser to compete with its competitors. There are many improvements in IE9, prominent ones are Microsoft's new Javascript engine 'Chakra', support for several standards such as HTML5, DOM, and CSS3. IE9 will be first browser to provide hardware-accelerated SVG support.

IE9 Platform Preview is available from download, visit IE9 Test Drive website for download/details. This is not the final version, work on IE9 is still in progress, this preview is released just to give developers an idea of new features of IE9, so they could use it for testing purposes. Beta version of Internet Explorer 9 would soon be in available for normal users.
