    Might I suggest’s service instead? Google’s favicon service was never meant to be public, so it’s not supported, and could go away at any time. It also only serves 16 pixel icons.Full disclosure, I am the creator of grabicon, but it’s free, and gives the user a much better alternative.

    One problem.. because it’s served from “” domain, Google’s cookies are tracking your visitors and which pages on your site they’re visiting that use the icons.
