What’s the Best Tool to Jailbreak iPhone 4 on iOS 4.x.x?

Good day Jaxov, I am using a jailbroken iPhone 4 running on old iOS 4.1. This is a used phone, I got it from a friend’s friend. The previous owner said that he jailbroke it on his Mac. Anyway, my question is, which would be the best iOS version to upgrade to. Will I lose my jailbreak apps and tweaks when I update? And, what jailbreak tool should I use to jailbreak my iPhone 4. I’m on windows 7. Had no plan to unlock my since AT&T is working all right in my area. Thanks.

Hello Harry, since you don’t care about unlocking your iPhone 4 from AT&T’s network, then I would recommend restoring your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.3 as this version of iOS is more stable in comparison with other firmware. In addition, this firmware also adds necessary bugs fixes and improvement on your device. To jailbreak iOS 4.3.3, you can use Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 on your Windows. BUT before you jailbreak or restore your iPhone 4 to the new firmware, you should backup all your data first. You can also download and install jailbreak app called PkgBackup on your iPhone 4. PkgBackup app will enable you to backup and restore all your jailbreak apps, tweaks, and even on your springboard settings. You can follow this guide on how to install PkgBackup through Cydia for $3.49 USD. To restore, just simply connect your iOS device into iTunes and choose the backup that you have created using PkgBackup.

You can download the stock iOS 4.3.3 for your iPhone 4 using this download link. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 download link is posted here. If you are not familiar about jailbreaking iPhone using Redsn0w, then you can follow this step by step guide on how to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone 4 using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16. Also, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your PC.
