Hello, I am using a brand new iPhone 4 that is currently running iOS 4.3.3 firmware and has 4.10.01 baseband installed. Right now, I am thinking to unlock it using Gevey SIM on the new iOS 5 firmware once it becomes available publicly. Is it possible? Thanks.

Fortunately an iPhone app developer and reddit user has confirmed that you can unlock your iPhone on iOS 5 GM by jailbreaking and preventing the iOS 4.3.3 / 4.10.01 baseband from getting upgraded. Meaning, the baseband version of the iOS 5 GM (4.11.08) is not supported for the hardware-based unlock. Hopefully, Appleberry and Gevey will manage to release a new version of Gevey SIM to unlock iPhone, including the new iPhone 4S, on iOS 5 firmware.
Anyway, while waiting for the iOS 5 and Gevey SIM support, you can check this blog post on how to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 using Gevey SIM Pro. If you are thinking to unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.3.3, I would recommend you to jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 and then unlock it with Gevey SIM. In this way you will be able to use all of the features of the iPhone after unlocking it.
