After almost 2 years of using this iPhone 3GS, I have decided to jailbreak and unlock it. I have iOS 3.1 installed on my iPhone and just updated to iOS 4.3.3 couple of months ago. I now have 05.16.02 installed on my device and I am trying to update it to iPad baseband 06.15.00 so that I could use Ultrasn0w. However, Redsn0w 0.9.6RC15 throws an error while fetching the iPad baseband file. So, how can is bypass this error? I really want to unlock this. Please help! Thanks.

Now that you have the latest version of iTunes and Redsn0w, I would like you to check your Internet connection. Try to reboot your modem, router, and PC or Mac to ensure that you have a better Internet connectivity. After rebooting, you can now jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w. Just to make sure, you can follow this tutorial for detailed and step by step guide on how to jailbreak iPhone using Redsn0w.
There are chances that Redsn0w might crash because it can’t determine or access your iPhone 3GS bootrom version due to the fact that there are two versions of iPhone 3GS – the new bootrom and the old one. During the jailbreak process (in step 6), Redsn0w will prompt you for the bootrom type of your precious device. Just simply choose YES and if you have new bootrom or NO if your iPhone 3GS has old bootrom. If you don’t know the bootrom of your device, then you can use iH8sn0w’s iDetector to help you analyze it. Also, do not choose two or more options at the same time when jailbreaking your iPhone using Redsn0w. For instance, you can choose the Install Cydia option first and proceed to the entire jailbreaking process, then after jailbreaking just simply re-launch Redsn0w and choose the Install iPad baseband . Once you have iPad baseband on your device, you can now unlock it using Ultrasn0w 1.2.3. The step by step guide on how to unlock iPhone using Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 can be found here.
