Should I Restore iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.4 or Jailbreak It with JailbreakMe 3.0?

Hello Jaxov, I was planning to jailbreak my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 yesterday, so I tried to backup my device through iTunes but iTunes prompted me if I want to restore my iPhone to iOS 4.3.4. So I checked the web about this new iPhone operating system and have found out that the release was intended for security update. My question is, is it safe to jailbreak my iPhone using JailbreakMe 3.0? Or should I restore to iOS 4.3.4?

Hello Grace, well, Comex (the developer of the uber popular jailbreak tool JailbreakMe 3.0) have already addressed this security flaw / PDF exploit that he discovered embedded on the iOS’s Mobile Safari web browser. Comex have already released a fix called PDF Patcher 2 to patch the security flaw so that it can’t be used for malicious purposes. The said fix can be downloaded through Cydia after you jailbroke your iPhone on iOS 4.3.3 using JailbreakMe 3.0. And this actually proves that jailbreaking an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch is safe and secure. Actually, the main purpose of the iOS 4.3.4 software update is to patch JailbreakMe 3.0 hole.

Basically, jailbreaking will enable you to download and install numerous and awesome jailbreak apps and tweaks which can only be found via Cydia, and this is actually one of the major reasons why people jailbroke their device. So, should you jailbreak your iPhone? That decision is up to you. But in case that you want to jailbreak, then you can check this tutorial on how to jailbreak iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 using JailbreakMe 3.0. Then install PDF Patcher 2 to patch the PDF security flaw once jailbroken. On the other hand, check this blog post to know more about iOS 4.3.4.
