Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 Crashed while Jailbreaking iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1

Hello Jaxov, I am a newbie jailbreaker and I am trying to jailbreak my iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1. I have already restored my phone to stock iOS 5.0.1. I have downloaded iTunes 10.5.1 and Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Windows. Issue is that, everytime I try to launch the downloaded Redsn0w tool it always get crashed right after the disclaimer page. How can I bypass this? Thanks.

Hello Argelou! Well, it seems like you have downloaded a corrupted Redsn0w.exe file probably because you have a slow Internet connection while downloading the application. Or, you are probably trying to run the application from inside the .ZIP file. Anyway, this error can be fixed by downloading a new Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Windows (or Mac OS X), which you can get from here. After downloading, make sure that you extract the .ZIP file before launching the application.

If for some reason, the downloaded Redsn0w still won’t run, then you will need to run the application in different compatibility mode. In order to do that, all you have to do is right-click on the downloaded and extracted redsn0w.exe, then go to Properties, and then select the Compatibility tab.

Then under the Compatibility mode option, you will need to click the Run this program in compatibility mode check box, select Windows XP and then choose the highest Service Pack listed (Service Pack 3). Lastly, click the box under Privilege Level to Run this program as an administrator and click OK to save settings.

That’s it, in this way you will be able to run Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 on your computer without getting any error. Anyway, you can follow this guide on how to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8. Good luck!
