Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 Crashes While Jailbreaking iOS 5 Firmware on iPhone 4

Hello everyone, I have got an iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 jailbroken and unlocked using JailbreakMe 3.0 and Gevey SIM. Yesterday, I downloaded the new Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 to jailbreak my iPhone 4 on iOS 5 while preserving my current baseband. So I tried to create a iOS 5 custom firmware but Redsn0w crashed in the middle of the process. Please help. Thanks.

Hello Jess, Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 is working accordingly to jailbreak iOS 5 (tethered) as well as other iPhone firmwares. You should be noted that the ability to create a custom firmware using the new Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 is available only for Mac OS X users. So, are you on Mac when you were trying to cook a custom iOS 5 IPSW file? Anyway, I would recommend you to check this blog post to know more and download a new Redsn0w 0.9.9b7. Again, the ability to create a custom firmware is available only for Mac OS X users.

Just to make sure, you can follow our step-by-step guide on how to use Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 to create iOS 5 custom firmware and guide on how to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5 using Gevey SIM can be found on this link. Then after jailbreaking and unlocking, just simply activate your iPhone to iTunes 10.5 using SAM app so that you will be able to use those features of the iOS 5 which require activated iPhone like iMessage and FaceTime. The step-by-step guide on how to use SAM can be found here. That’s it! Good luck!
