Hello Jaxov, I have an iPhone 4 currently running on iOS 5 firmware and I am trying to jailbreak it using Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 on Windows. But when I run Redsn0w after putting my iPhone in DFU mode it prompts me with “no identifying data fetched” error and does not allow me to proceed to the next step. What does it mean? Thanks.

So, in order to bypass this error, I would recommend you to re-configure your network connection by rebooting your modem, router, and your PC. Please ensure that you are connected to a high-speed and non-restricted Internet connection before running Redsn0w. If you still getting this error after performing this, then the only option available to jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w is by pointing Redsn0w manually to the stock iOS 5 firmware. To do that, you will need to download the stock iOS 5 firmware for your iOS device using this link. I would also recommend you to download the newly released Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 for Mac OS X and Windows from here. Then after putting your iPhone in DFU mode, go back toExtras and then click on Select IPSW option to manually specify iOS 5 firmware file to jailbreak your device. Once selected, just simply select the Install Cydia and then click on the Next button to start the jailbreaking process. That’s it. Enjoy!
