No Identifying Data Fetched Error During iOS 5 Jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.9b6

Hello Jaxov, I have an iPhone 4 currently running on iOS 5 firmware and I am trying to jailbreak it using Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 on Windows. But when I run Redsn0w after putting my iPhone in DFU mode it prompts me with “no identifying data fetched” error and does not allow me to proceed to the next step. What does it mean? Thanks.

Hello Paulo! Well, you were getting no identifying data fetched error primarily because of the fact that Redsn0w can’t access Apple’s server in order to download all necessary files and data to jailbreak your iPhone on the latest iPhone firmware. This is probably because you have a bad Internet connection or the Cupertino, California-based Apple are having some issues on their server.

So, in order to bypass this error, I would recommend you to re-configure your network connection by rebooting your modem, router, and your PC. Please ensure that you are connected to a high-speed and non-restricted Internet connection before running Redsn0w. If you still getting this error after performing this, then the only option available to jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w is by pointing Redsn0w manually to the stock iOS 5 firmware. To do that, you will need to download the stock iOS 5 firmware for your iOS device using this link. I would also recommend you to download the newly released Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 for Mac OS X and Windows from here. Then after putting your iPhone in DFU mode, go back toExtras and then click on Select IPSW option to manually specify iOS 5 firmware file to jailbreak your device. Once selected, just simply select the Install Cydia and then click on the Next button to start the jailbreaking process. That’s it. Enjoy!

I have redsn0w_win_0.9.12b1 installed on my laptop which I used for a tethered jailbreak. Yesterday my phone crashed and it is now in a constant respring loop. In the past Ive simply gone through the just boot tethered stages to get my phone back to normal – but now when I try, redsn0w gets to the “identifying build” window but just stays there for ages….We recently installed antivir which I disabled and tried again…no avail. We also have net nanny installed since my last jailbreak…would this interfere with the process?…I really dont want to restore through itunes as data I have on my phone is important and hasnt been uploaded to itunes yet…PLEASE HELKP!!!
