Can I Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S Using Blackra1n Tool?
Hello Jaxov team, I just read in some Facebook group that iPhone 4S can be jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1 using Blackra1n. Can you guys confirm if Blackra1n can actually jailbreak and unlock iPhone 4S? My iPhone 4S is currently locked on AT&T and running on stock iOS 5 firmware. Cheers.

Hello Ronjay, as far as I know, there’s no tool available to jailbreak iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0 or iOS 5.0.1 (including iPad 2). This is primarily because of the fact that these iOS device uses a new set of hardware – the A5 dual-core chip – that permanently patched the Limera1n
bootrom exploit discovered by Geohot. And this is the reason why the iPhone Dev-Team, as well as other iOS jailbreaking teams are struggling to get a tethered and specially untethered jailbreak
for all A5-based devices. On the other hand, Blackra1n (an updated version of Purplera1n) was utilized to jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2G, and iPod Touch 3G only. It utilizes a bug that was discovered in the USB code that has been already patched by Apple. Blackra1n also unlocks and hacktivates iPhone 3G and 3GS running baseband 05.11.07. Lately, it was used by GeoHot himself to jailbreak iPhone on iOS 4.0
. So, we have to wait for GeoHot’s announcement if an updated version of Blackra1n will work on iPhone 4S.
Anyway, if you were thinking to unlock your iPhone 4S, then I am pretty sure that you will be glad to know that you can easily unlock your beloved device without the help of any jailbreak tools or using any hardware. You can visit this blog post for details. Good luck!
