iPhone 4 Stuck in Unknown Error 1611 while Downgrading Back to iOS 4.3.3

Hello guys, I am getting iTunes error 1611 when I am trying to restore my iPhone form iOS 4.3.5 back to iOS 4.3.3. And when I click on the restore it shows it preparing for firmware restoration but eventually it stops with a message saying “The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error has occurred (error 1611)". My iPhone was previously jailbroken using JailbreakMe 3.0, and I have accidentally updated it to iOS 4.3.5? Please help. Thanks.

Hello Francis, iTunes error 1611 is a software released issue. This error can be fixed easily by just rebooting your computer and changing the USB port. You can follow the simple steps posted below on how to bypass iTunes error 1611:

Step 1: Change the USB port where the phone is plugged in to. I would recommend you to connect your iPhone to USB port 3.0 (but do not tether the phone back in yet).
Step 2: Now you have to reboot you computer then connect the iPhone to USB port 3.0 and immediately put it in DFU mode:

  • Press and hold the Power and Home button for 10 seconds.
  • Then release Power button after 10 seconds but continue holding the Home button for another 10 seconds.

Step 3: Once in DFU mode, you can now restore your iPhone back to iOS 4.3.3. But make sure that you hold down the SHIFT key (ALT key for Mac) before clicking the the Restore button.
