iPhone 4 Bricked After iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze

Hello Jaxov peeps, I had an iPhone 4 which was previously running on iOS 4.3.5 jailbreak and was unlocked using Gevey SIM. Recently, I upgraded it to iOS 5.0.1 and then did a tethered jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze 2.8b9. After the jailbreak process, I tried to reboot my iPhone using iBooty tool but the phone just went dead and now it’s not switching ON at all. I already tried to put it in DFU mode but it is not working. Can someone help please help me? Thanks.

Hello Jerry, your iPhone is not bricked. It’s probably stuck in DFU mode / recovery mode loop. If that’s the case, then you can use the standalone TinyUmbrella (Fix Recovery) or put your iPhone in DFU mode in order to get a fix.

On the other hand, regarding the iOS 5 unlock, unfortunately there’s no way you can get your iPhone unlocked once you have restored it to stock iOS 5 / iOS 5.0.1 firmware as Gevey SIM does not support the baseband of iOS 5 firmware i-e 4.11.08. Can you downgrade your firmware to get a lower version of baseband? Sad to say but this process is not possible; you will carry that baseband till you update your iPhone to the latest iOS software update.

Back on your iPhone, you can follow this guide on how to use TinyUmbrella (Fix Recovery). If this doesn’t work, then you can just restore your iPhone to stock iOS 5.0.1 by connecting your iPhone to iTunes and putting it in DFU mode (Shift + Restore for Windows / Option + Restore for Mac OS X). Then once completely restored, you can check this blog post to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8. That’s it! Good luck!
