iPhone 3GS YouTube App and GPS Not Working on iOS 5.0.1
Hi, I am using an iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 firmware. But after restoring my phone to iOS 5.0.1, I have experienced numerous issues and I can’t figure out how to resolve them. This issues includes GPS functionality (not working at all), apps not running in the background, and YouTube and other videos apps are not working at all. Please help! Thanks.

Hello Susan. First, I would like to ask you if you were using a jailbroken
and unlocked iPhone
3GS? Is your iPhone running on custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware with iPad baseband? If yes, then you should be noted that the GPS functionality of your iPhone 3GS is disabled permanently and, sad to say, there’s no way you will be able to fix it. And regarding other errors that you are experiencing on your device, restoring your iPhone to the custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware will definitely fix these issues. You can check this tutorial
on how to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 3GS using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8. Then once completely jailbroken, just re-install Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 to unlock iPhone from its contracted mobile phone carrier by following this guide
. If you don’t have the official carrier SIM card for your iPhone, you can follow our step-by-step guide posted on this link
on how to activate iPhone using SAM app.
On the other hand, if you were rocking a non-jailbroken iPhone 3GS, then you will need to restore your iPhone 3GS. But this time, I would recommend you to do a clean restore and do not restore your backup (restore it if you are sure that there’s no corrupted data on your backup). Good luck!!!
