iOS 5 iPhone Jailbreak Tool Compatible with Mac OS X?
Hello Jaxov, I am planning to try the new iOS 5 beta into my old iPhone 3GS, then jailbreak it using PwnageTool since I am using a Mac. But the problem is I can’t find PwnageTool that supports the new iOS 5 firmware. Thanks.

Hello Allan, there’s no PwnageTool for iOS 5 beta at the moment. The iPhone Dev Team is expected to release the new version of PwnageTool after Apple lunches the final version of iOS 5 firmware for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch this coming fall. However, if you want to jailbreak iOS 5 on your Mac OS X, then you should use Redsn0w
0.9.8b2. The second beta version of Redsn0w 0.9.8 is available for both Mac and Windows users. But, unlike PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze
, Redsn0w has no capability to preserve the baseband of your iPhone 3GS. Meaning, you will not be able to unlock your iPhone using Ultrasn0w after jailbreaking it with Redsn0w, so if you rely on Ultrasn0w unlock, then you should jailbreak your iPhone 3GS using Sn0wbreeze 2.8b4 or wait for the iPhone Dev Team to release the PwnageTool for iOS 5.
Anyway, if you don’t care about unlocking, then you can jailbreak your iPhone 3GS using Redsn0w 0.9.8b2. You can check this blog post to download and know more about Redsn0w 0.9.8b2. The step by step guide on how to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 3 on iPhone 3GS using Redsn0w 0.9.8b2 can be found here, of course, you will need to download iOS 5 beta 3.
