Installous and Other Jailbreak Apps Missing After iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak

Hello Jaxov, I got an iPhone 4 which I have updated to iOS 5.0.1 and then got it jailbroken using Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11. But after updating and jailbreaking, I noticed that some of the apps that I have installed before updating were gone, including Installous, MyWi, and some other apps from Cydia. Are these apps hidden somewhere or all of them just got deleted? I am new iPhone user and everything is pretty new to me. Thanks.

Hello Gustav, you should be noted that restoring your iPhone to the latest iPhone firmware will automatically wipe out the entire content of your iOS device, which includes your photos, messages, saved contact numbers, emails, downloaded App Store apps, and most specially your installed jailbreak apps and Cydia tweaks. And in order to get it back on your jailbroken iOS device, you will need to download and install them through Cydia Store again. The tutorial on how to install Installous on jailbroken iPhone 4 running on iOS 5 firmware can be found on this blog post. Then after installing Installous, you will also need to download and install AppSync app. This app will allow you to sync your iPhone to iTunes without deleting your downloaded cracked apps. The guide on how to install AppSync is posted here.

Additionally, you should also be noted that there’s no untethered jailbreak available on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 firmware. Therefore you will need to tether or connect your iPhone into your computer and boot it in tethered jailbroken state using Sn0wbreeze’s iBooty tool. You can check this blog post to know more about iOS 5 jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze. You can also check this link to know more about iOS 5 Semitethered jailbreak via SemiTether app. That’s it.
