I am very keen about iOS 5 and I want to update and jailbreak my iPhone 4 on iOS 5 GM. Can anyone tell me how to upgrade my iPhone to iOS 5 GM and then jailbreak it? Is it possible for iPhone 4 users to restore iOS 5 and then jailbreak it? Thanks.

At the moment, the Golden Master version of the iOS 5 has been seeded by Apple to the developers. And even if you don’t have iOS developer account, you will still be able to update your device to iOS 5 as you can download the software from some tech blogs and websites. To download the leaked iOS 5 GM, all you have to do is Google it! Just Google “iOS 5 GM direct link” and download the IPSW. Aside from the IPSW file, you will also need to download and install the iTunes 10.5 beta 9 on your Mac OS X or Windows machine. You can check this blog post to know more about iTunes 10.5 beta 9. Just simply download and install iTunes 10.5 beta 9 (Of course, you will need to uninstall the current iTunes installed on your computer). Once completely installed, just simply connect your iPhone (backup your device first before restoring), navigate to Summary tab, press Shift and then click the restore button. Now, browse for the downloaded iOS 5 GM IPSW file and hit OK to commence the restoration process.
On the other hand, you can use the latest version of Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze to jailbreak iOS 5 GM on your iPhone 4. In your case, I would recommend you to use Redsn0w. You can download Redsn0w 0.9.9b3 from here if you are on Windows or using this link if you are on Mac. Then refer on this tutorial to tethered jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w.
