How to Restore iOS 5 on Jailbroken iPhone 4 Using iFaith?

I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 running on iOS 5 and trying to backup my SHSHS blobs using iFaith 1.4 but it keeps throwing an unknown iOS detected error. Is there any work around to back them up without getting any error? Thanks.

Hello Ernest! Have you installed any jailbreak app or tweak that have something to do with iPhone restoration? If so, then please uninstall it from your jailbroken iOS device (Launch Cydia and then navigate to Manage tab) and then try to dump your SHSH blobs using iFaith. Aside from this, try to connect your iPhone using a different USB port and cable. Also use the USB ports that are located at the back of the chassis as these ports are more robust.

In addition to this, when iFaith prompts you if you want to dump an Apple TV SHSH blobs, make sure that you will click NO. Anyway, there’s also possibility that you have downloaded a corrupted iFaith v1.4. Just to make use that you have a good working iFaith, I would recommend you to re-download it. You can download iFaith v.14 using this link. Our step-by-step guide on how to use iFaith to save iOS 5.0/5.0.1 SHSH blobs can be found on this blog post.

On the other hand, if you need help in jailbreaking iPhone on iOS 5, then you can check this blog post on how to use Redsn0w 0.9.9b8. That’s it!
