Hello Jaxov, I just bought used iPhone 4 from eBay last week. It’s in good working condition and has numerous apps installed on it. My brother is also using an iPhone 4, but his phone was jailbroken and unlocked when he bought it from eBay. Now, what I want to do is to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone. The phone is locked to AT&T carrier but I am not sure about its baseband and firmware version. I think it’s on iOS 4.3.3 but again I am not sure. Thanks in advance.

Step 1: Press the Settings from your iPhone homescreen to launch Settings Menu.
Step 2: Press General from Settings Menu
Step 3: Now navigate to About from General Menu
Step 4: Under About screen you can check iPhone firmware version under Version label
Step 5: Then scroll further down to check the baseband version of your iPhone under the Modem Firmware label.
If your iPhone is running on stock iOS 4.3, iOS 4.3.1 or up to iOS 4.3.5 then you can jailbreak your iPhone using the latest version of Redsn0w. You can download Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 from here and then follow this guide on how to use Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 to jailbreak iPhone 4. To get an unlock, you will need a hardware-based unlocking tool called Gevey SIM. You can check this guide on how to use Gevey SIM to unlock iPhone on iOS 4.2.1 up to iOS 4.3.5. If you want to update to iOS 5, then you can refer on this tutorial on how to jailbreak and unlock iPhone using Redsn0w and Gevey SIM. Good luck!
