How to Jailbreak iOS 5 GM on iPhone 4 Untethered?
Hello Jaxov, I am currently using my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.1 and right now I am thinking to update my iPhone to iOS 5 GM plus jailbreak it. Well, is there untethered jailbreak support for this firmware? If there, then what jailbreak tool should I use to jailbreak iOS 5 GM? Please get back to me. Thanks.

Hello Davis, sad to say but there won’t be an iOS 5 untethered jailbreak any time soon after the Cupertino, California-based Apple
releases its biggest iOS update ever to the public. This is primarily because of the fact that Apple has already patched the most stable untethered jailbreak exploit used by the iPhone Dev-Team to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 up to iOS 4.3.3
. Though, the Chronic-Dev Team have announced that they are working on 5 userland exploits
that could be used to developed an untethered jailbreak exploit, this will take time to develop and Apple might patch it as well as before the Chronic-Dev Team release it to the public (just like what they patched SHAtter bootrom exploit
). Anyway, the only jailbreak available for the iOS 5 GM is the ever reliable tethered jailbreak. You can easily achieve tethered jailbreak on iOS 5 GM using the latest version of Redsn0w
jailbreak tool. You can refer on this guide
on how to use Redsn0w 0.9.9b3 to jailbreak iOS 5 GM.
Anyway, if you really want to get an untethered jailbreak, then I would recommend you to STAY AWAY from iOS 5 as iOS 4.2.1 is supported by untethered jailbreak. You can use Greenpois0n RC6.1 to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.2.1.
