Hello, I have downloaded the latest version of WhatsApp. Since most iPhone apps are also compatible for the iPod Touch, I am thinking if I will be able to install this app on my device. So I tried to install it but the app is not working. Is there any option available to install WhatsApp on my iPod Touch 4G? By the way, my iPod is running stock iOS 4.3.3. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance?

Well, in order to install WhatsApp on your iPod Touch, you will need to trick iTunes to think that you are installing the version 2.4 of WhatsApp but the fact is you are installing the latest version of the app. This is because the previous version of WhatsApp is compatible for the iPod Touch. To do that, just simply follow the tutorial posted below:
Step 1: First, you will need to download WhatsApp version 2.6.4 using this iTunes link. You will also need to download the version 2.4 of WhatsApp (just Google it). Just download and save it on your desktop.
Step 2: Now you have to navigate to the folder where iTunes stores the download apps:
Mac OS X users: /Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Application
Windows user: C:UsersJaxovMusiciTunesiTunes MediaMobile Applications
From there, just simply copy the WhatsApp 2.6.4.ipa and save it on your desktop (create a new folder and rename it as “Real”).
Step 3: On your desktop, extract the downloaded WhatsApp version 2.4. After extracting, select the .ipa file and rename it to WhatsApp 2.6.4.ipa and copy and paste it to the Mobile Applications folder.
Step 4: Go back to iTunes and navigate to the Apps section in your Media Library. From there, just select and delete the WhatsApp version from the Library (choose to keep the file!). Then go back to your Mobile Applications folder and copy the modified WhatsApp 2.6.4.ipa file and paste it to the Library.
Step 5: Connect your iPod Touch 4G to your computer via USB cable and then select your device. Then you have to activate the Enable App Synchronization underthe Apps section. After that, just drag and drop the WhatsApp icon from the list of apps on the left side to the Home Screen on the right.
Step 6: Hit the Apply bottom on the bottom right corner to start the installation. While installing the app, approximately 60 to 70% of the installation process, an error will occur and the app installation will stop.
Step 7: Now go back to your desktop and copy the “real” WhatsApp 2.6.4.ipa file. Then go to Mobile Application folder and overwrite the “modified” WhatsApp 2.6.4.ipa with the “real” one to trick iTunes that you were installing the old version of WhatsApp and not the 2.6.4 version.
Step 8: Then drag and drop the WhatsApp icon again from left to right and hit the Apply button.
Step 9: The Installation should resume and finish without encountering any error.
Step 10: Once completely installed on your iPod Touch, just simply launch the WhatsApp on your iPod Touch while it is connected to the computer.
Step 11: If the app crashed after launching just uninstall it and disconnect your iPod Touch and close iTunes. Then connect your device back to your computer and re-install WhatsApp.
That’s it! In this way you will be able to install WhatsApp on your iPod Touch 4G.
