Gevey SIM Not Working on iPhone 4 with New SIM Card

Hi, I have an iPhone 4 which was jailbroken with Redsn0w and unlocked using Gevey Pro on iOS 4.3.5. At the moment I am using it with my T-Mobile SIM card. However, when I try to use my GCI SIM card, it doesn’t work. I thought that after unlocking my iPhone using Gevey SIM, I would be able to use any SIM card on my iPhone? Additionally, FaceTime is also not working after unlocking it. Any tips? Thanks.

Hello Loraine, yes, once you have successfully unlocked your iPhone using Gevey SIM you will be able to pop any SIM (local or international SIM card) of your choice – as long as you cut them properly. In your case, you have probably cut the SIM card in a wrong way. You should be noted that any bit of the the copper part of the SIM card is very sensitive. Once it gets cut, the SIM card will not work. So be careful next time.

On the other hand, regarding FaceTime on your jailbroken iPhone, this error normally occurs when an iPhone is not activated after hacktivating / jailbreaking the iOS device. So, in order to fix this, you will need to activate your iPhone using iTunes. To do that, just simply insert your original AT&T SIM card (or any AT&T SIM card) and then connect your iPhone to iTunes. Just simply follow the on-screen instructions and you will be fine. You don’t have the original SIM card or access to any AT&T SIM? Then you don’t have to worry as you will still be able to activate your iPhone using a jailbreak app called SAM. You can refer on this tutorial on how to use SAM to activate your iPhone.
