Redownload Stock iOS 4.3.3 IPSW File on Desktop to Jailbreak Using Redsn0w

Hi guys, I am completely new on iPhone jailbreaking and unlocking. I just got my iPhone 4 from my parents as a gift. A friend told me to jailbreak it on iOS 4.3.3 as it was running on iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.0.1 (not so sure) originally. However, since I’m a newbie, I have accidentally restored my iPhone to iOS 4.3.3.  Now, do I need to download the 4.3.3 IPSW file again to jailbreak it using Redsn0w on Windows 7? And, how can I get untethered jailbreak?

Hello Kenneth, if you have already restored or updated your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 (or on any version of iOS) via iTunes, then you don’t have to download the stock iOS 4.3.3 IPSW file again if you want to jailbreak your iPhone as the file is already stored on your desktop. All you have to do is navigate to the following location to find the stock IPSW that was stored on your iPhone via iTunes. Just go to: “C:Users[username]AppDataRoamingApple ComputeriTunesiPhone Software Updates”.  There are some cases that the application Data or AppData folder doesn’t show up, you will need to activate “show hidden files” to reveal all files and folders on your desktop.

To get an untethered jailbreak, since your iPhone 4 is already running on stock iOS 4.3.3 with new baseband, you can jailbreak your iPhone 4 using Redsn0w jailbreak tool. Just download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 and save it on your desktop so that you can easily access it. Then, if you aren’t familiar with the untethered jailbreak procedures, the step by step guide on how to jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 was posted here. Hope this helps.
