Can I Add Custom Boot Logo on Verizon iPhone 4 with Redsn0w?

I’m planning to jailbreak my Verizon iPhone 4 running on iOS 4.2.8 with Redsn0w. Will I be able to jailbreak and add custom boot logos in Cydia?

Hello Jason, you would be able to jailbreak your Verizon iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.8 using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 (Mac OS X or Windows). However, you couldn’t activate animated custom boot logo on your device at the moment as your mobile phone is not supported by this specific feature of Redsn0w. But, if you really want to activate custom boot logo on your device, then you should jailbreak your iOS device using Sn0wbreeze 2.7.1 (Windows). The entire jailbreaking process is quite complicated in comparison with Redsn0w as you have to create a custom pre-jailbroken iOS 4.2.8 IPSW file, which you’re going to restore on your device through iTunes.

Aside from the animated custom boot logo, you could also enable activate Multi-touch Gestures on your CDMA iPhone. This feature is not available from other jailbreak tools. You can follow this step by step guide on how to jailbreak Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.8 using Sn0wbreeze 2.7.1 on Windows. Then while jailbreaking, make sure you enable the option “Enable Animated Logo Capability” found under Expert Mode -> General. Then once completely jailbroken, launch Cydia and install “Apple Boot Logo” (a.k.a Animate), then go back to Cydia and search for “BootLogo” in order to install themes. Once downloaded and installed, just go to and choose which theme you want to use from the new BootLogo menu.
