Recboot and EasyiRecovery both requires LibUSB installed on your computer to function properly. Installing LibUSB on 32-bit operating systems is easy but many users who own x64 systems were facing some issues while installing LibUSB. The following guide will explain you how to install LibUSB on Windows 7 and Vista 64-bit editions.

Steps to Install LibUSB on Windows 7 & Vista 64-bit

  1. Download LIBUSB64Fix.zip and extract it on your desktop! (Find download link at the bottom of post)
  2. Plugin your iPhone, iPod or iPad through USB cable to your computer.
  3. Open the first folder called ADD HARDWARE WIZARD, run INF WIZARD.exe and click "Next" button.

  4. Select "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" from the list. If you are unable to find this option, you can choose USB Composite Device from the list and click "Next" button.

  5. Click next to skip the "Device Configuration" window.

  6. You will be prompted to save the INF file, rename it to "setup" and save it to ADD HARDWARE WIZARD directory.

  7. Once setup.inf has been saved, click on "Finish" button to close the window.

  8. Click on the start menu and type RUN and hit enter. You will see the RUN window, type hdwwiz in the "Open" field and click OK button.

  9. It will open "Add Hardware Wizard" as shown in the screenshot below. Click Next" button to proceed to next step.

  10. Choose "Install the hardware that I manually select form a list (Advanced)" and click "Next" button.

  11. Choose "Show All Devices" and hit the "Next" button.

  12. Click "Have Disk" button and browse to setup.inf you created in step 6 above.

  13. Select the only list item the "Menu" and click "Next" button.

  14. Click "Next" to skip final window before the installation will begin.

  15. Choose "Install Driver Anyway" to install the driver.

  16. Click on the "Finish" button to close the wizard.

  17. Now open the 2nd folder called INSTALL LIBUSB, right-click on LIBUSB 32win Setup.exe and choose "Properties". Go to the "Compatibility" tab and choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Click OK to apply the settings.

  18. Now run LIBUSB 32win Setup.exe and install the LibUSB with the default settings.

  19. Now open the 3rd folder called INSTALL READYDRIVER and run ReadyDriver Setup.exe.

Comex has now issued an updated version of Spirit tool which corrects these minor issues.

Update (May 3): I’ve updated the jailbreak tool. It no longer deletes photos (sorry!) and should resolve the issue with error code c0000005. (If you still get that error with the new version, try setting compatibility mode to Windows 95.)

It don't need any DOS commands manipulation like other methods. You can now create Windows 7 installation flash drive with just 2 clicks. Installaing Windows 7 from USB is much more fast and ofcourse it saves you from buying and burning ISO on a new DVD.

Requirements / Prerequisites

  1. USB Stick [4 GB Minimum]
  2. Windows 7 ISO Image file
  3. UNetbootin

First download UNetbootin for Windows and Linux. There is no need to install, just double click on UNetbootin.exe to launch UNetbootin. Now in Diskimage choose ISO file you have downloaded. Now select Type as USB Drive and choose drive letter of your USB stick. Once done, your settings should be just like the screenshot below.

Hit OK and it will take 10 to 15 minutes for copying and extracting files to USB. After that your USB will become bootable.

Now restart your system. Press DEL to go to your BIOS settings. In boot devices priority settings, choose boot from USB flash drives first. Restart your system after saving changes to your BIOS. Now you will see Windows 7 setup being initialized from your USB. Enjoy fast installation.

Even though UNetbootin is basically made to create USB sticks capable of booting various Linux distros but i am amazed that it also worked for Windows too.
