Some good news for WiMAX users/customers! Sprint as we know is offering 4G WiMAX services in US, their WiMAX network is named as XHOM, they are offering WiMAX services via CPEs(Customer Premises Equipments) and USB devices. There are no WiMAX/4G enabled handsets available for sprint customers now, the primary reason for this is lack of WiMAX handsets in market, there are hardly any WiMAX handsets available, one reasons for manufacturers not investing in WiMAX handsets could be the absence of mobility in WiMAX networks, most WiMAX networks around the globe are offering fixed/non-mobility services. Sprint, however do offer mobility to its customers, so it badly needs WiMAX handsets. Acc to a Forbes report, Sprint is going to launch its very first WiMAX phone in the first half of this year!

Like Motorola Droid on Verizon, the US version of Nexus One lacks the multitouch capability. Even though the hardware of Nexus One and Android 2.1 OS fully support Nexus One, yet Google didn’t shipped Nexus One with multitouch capabilities in web-browser despite of the fact that Apple’s iPhone support both multitouch and apps since 2007. According to Engadget, a phone passed on to the German site Heise has all the multitouch goodness like pinch-to-zoom enabled in the web browser which means that European version of Nexus One which is due to launch on Vodafone this Spring will be supporting multitouch.

Alpha version of ROM has just been released and is available for downloaded on AllDroid, this ROM will bring full multitouch functionality in it like zoom and tap functionality in browser, pictures and Google Maps. For those who don’t know, Motorola Droid on Verizon US don’t support multitouch functionality in most of the applications, although the hardware is fully capable of supporting multitouch. The reason behind this would most probably be some iPhone patents in US, as the European version of Motorola Droid named as Motorola Milestone fully supports multitouch functionality, just like iPhone.
