As promised, iPhone Dev Team has released their much awaited version of Ultrasn0w (v1.0-1) which can unlock iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0 / 4.0.1 with 01.59.00 baseband and iPhone 3G, 3GS with 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 or 05.13.04 baseband version. Once you have jailbreaked your iPhone by using JailbreakMe, you can follow the step-by-step procedure below to unlock your iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G.

According to a recent tweets by Planetbeing (man behind the Android port on iPhone), jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 4 will be released together. For those who don’t know Planetbeing is working with iPhone Dev Team for iPhone 4 jailbreak & unlock. Planetbeing and MuscleNerd, both have already managed to unlock their iPhone 4 through Ultrasn0w.

Previously, @planetbeing (member of iPhone Dev-Team) showed his unlocked iPhone 4 with Ultrasn0w and now another member of the team @MuscleNerd has confirmed that he has successfully unlocked his iPhone 4 with Ultrasn0w. @MuscleNerd showed a picture of his iPhone 4 camped on T-Mobile’s network.

Dev-Team’s quest for unlocking iPhone 4 continues. Dev-Team has posted a new article on its official blog titled ultrasn0w is growing!. The article states that they have successfully accomplished carrier unlock on iPhone 4 with Utlrasn0w tool and they are now in the process of fine tuning the tool for public release.

Upgrading your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 to iOS 4.0.1 will not upgrade the baseband from 05.13.04 to any newer version. But unfortunately, there is no jailbreak tool available at the moment which could jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, so the only device you can jailbreak using Redsn0w is iPhone 3G. This new baseband OS requires complete rewrite of Ultrasn0w code to unlock iOS 4 on iPhone 4.

For those who don’t know, the new iPhone 4 comes with an baseband upgrade which hasn’t been unlocked yet. In order to use it on any non-official carriers worldwide, the unlock is must.

iPhone Dev Team has released updated version of Ultrasn0w named “Ultrasn0w 0.92.1″ to unlock iOS 4.0 on iPhone 3GS, 3G with baseband 04.26.08.
Please note that your device should be on baseband 04.26.08 and running iOS 4 GM build to proceed with unlock using ultrasn0w 0.92.1. If you are on baseband 05.11.07, you can use blacksn0w RC2 to unlock and if you are on baseband 05.12.01, you will have to wait a little longer as Dev-Team is holding the release of unlock tool till iOS 4 public release officially hit the market.

Blacksn0w RC2 has been released for iOS 4. This version of blacksn0w is a combination original blacksn0w (released by GeoHot) and the binaries recently released by MSFT guy for 05.11.07 baseband on iPhone 3GS, running iOS 4 GM. This is an unofficial update of blacksn0w, and is released by the same developer who released updated version of balcksn0w to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 05.11.07 Baseband. Please read the notes carefully before attempting the given procedure.
