According to a recent tweets by Planetbeing (man behind the Android port on iPhone), jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 4 will be released together. For those who don’t know Planetbeing is working with iPhone Dev Team for iPhone 4 jailbreak & unlock. Planetbeing and MuscleNerd, both have already managed to unlock their iPhone 4 through Ultrasn0w.

According to recent tweets by Comex, man behind the famous Spirit tool, the next version of Spirit will jailbreak iOS 4.0 and iOS 4.0.1 on all iDevices. If you are on iOS 4 or iOS 4.0.1, all you need now is to save your SHSH blobs so that you can downgrade to older firmware versions in future. SHSH blobs for iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1 are same as the only difference is the size of signal bars.

Apple recently rolled out its first iOS 4 firmware update (iOS 4.0.1) for iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 users. iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 users are requested to wait until iPhone Dev Team releases a jailbreak tool which can jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on the said devices. However iPhone 3G users can easily jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 by using the latest version of Redsn0w (v0.9.5b5-5).

He already showed us the ground work he has done for jailbreaking iOS 4. GeoHot in his recent article also confirmed that limera1n and pwned4life are not his tools/softwares, these are just some arbitrary names given by bloggers to his efforts.

Not only this but Sn0wbreeze 1.6.2 also supports iOS 4 jailbreak on those iDevices which were previously jailbroken by the Comex’s Spirit tool. Sn0wbreeze v1.6.2 can jailbreak iOS 4 on iPhone 3G, 3GS (old bootrom) and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC model).

iPhone Dev Team has released a new version of Redsn0w (v0.9.5b5-5) fixing MMS and APN issue that people were facing after jailbreaking their iPhone 3G with Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-4 which fixed issues related to iBooks app. For those who don’t know: Redsn0w 0.9.5b5 can jailbreak iOS 4 on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC models).
