In an another effort to conquer all things digital, Google Inc. just announced through their official blog they will be acquiring Motorola Mobility for the staggering amount of $12.5 billion. This acquisition by the search engine giant is said to be in-line with the effort of strengthening the Android ecosystem.

Its confirmed! The upcoming 10-inch tablet by Motorola with Verizon tattoo at the top-right will be running Android 3.0, Honeycomb. Last week Andy Rubin, the co-founder of Android and VP, Mobile Platforms at Google demoed Stingray running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) at D: Dive Into Mobile conference.

Skype is finally available for Android platform. Skype app will be supported on a wide range of Android phones (Motorola, HTC, Samsung). You can download the app for your Android phone from Android Market, or by simpling typing skype.com/m on your mobile's web browser. Android 2.1 or later is required for Skype app.

As anticipated, Verizon has started rolling OTA (over-the-air) Android 2.2 (Froyo) updates for Motorola Droid. If you are a Verizon customer, you should receive a software update notification on your Motorola Droid notification bar. Update process is pretty straight forward, just ensure that your phone is connected to internet and wait for the update to complete.

Google's first branded phone named as Nexus One has just been released, and the talks about next version of Google phone are already in the air. People at Mobile01 managed to get their hands on few photos of Motorola Shadow, which acc to them would be next version of Nexus One/Google Android phone. As the launch date of Google Nexus One is approaching, more details are emerging about it. Tnkgrl Mobile claims that she had a chance to has hands on with Nexus One/Google Phone, she shares quite a few details/specs about the device and its operation, most noticeable one is that Nexus One don't support multitouch, not atleast in the two apps she tried (Browser and Google Maps).
