Since last year, several smartphone manufacturers have decided to adapt the 4G LTE technology for their devices' cellular wireless standards. So what's the deal with 4G? As you may have deduced from its name, 4G is much faster than 3G with the potential of being ten times faster. Although several smartphone manufacturers have boarded the 4G, one prominent company hasn't adapted the technology to its devices yet, and that is of course, Apple.

ShareWhy Apple named iPhone 2G successor as iPhone 3G?, because it supports 3G technology. Would next generation iPhone or iPhone 4G (as the world has named it) really support 4G technologies like LTE? that is a big question mark. ShareSprint has recently released an ad showing iPhone using Sprint's 4G/WiMAX network via its Overdrive 3G/4G Hotspot mobile router. Basically sprint has introduced a mobile 4G Hotspot in the form of a mini router which serves any Wi-Fi enabled device in its coverage like iPhone/iPad. Sprint as we know is offering 4G WiMAX services in US, their WiMAX network is named as XHOM, they are offering WiMAX services via CPEs(Customer Premises Equipments) and USB devices. There are no WiMAX/4G enabled handsets available for sprint customers now, the primary reason for this is lack of WiMAX handsets in market, there are hardly any WiMAX handsets available, one reasons for manufacturers not investing in WiMAX handsets...

Share3GPP has finalized its work on the standardization of next-generation mobile broadband standard Long Term Evolution (LTE) last month. At the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) meeting last month, the standards body approved the straggler specs that were delayed and given an extended deadline until March, which were mostly to do with the Systems Architecture Evolution (SAE) and Evolved Packet Core (EPC).
