Limera1n is a jailbreak utility that uses an undisclosed bootrom exploit and Comex's packet filter kernel exploit that allows this to achieve an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G/4G, iPad and Apple TV 2G. Limera1n was created by Geohot and was originally released on the 9th of October 2010. It supports both Mac OS X and Windows and it can be used for hacktivation and jailbreaking. On release it supported iOS 3.2.2 up to 4.1. Limera1n has nothing to do with the SHAtter exploit and gives users a tethered jailbreak and unsigned code execution. The tethered jailbreak means that users must have their iDevices connected to their PC every time they reboot in order to activate the jailbreak.
