After unlocking baseband 06.15.00 with Ultrasn0w, many users reported drastic drop in iPhone battery level and iPhone overheating issues. iPhone Dev-Team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 for Windows and Mac OS X users. You can use Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 to upgrade the baseband of iPhone 3GS/3G (05.14.xx or 05.15.xx) to 06.15.00 so that it can be unlocked with the latest version of Ultrasn0w (v1.2). Unlike PwnageTool 4.1.3, you can use Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 without needing iPad iOS 3.2.2 IPSW as it can fetch the iPad baseband files directly from Apple servers.

The latest version of Ultrasn0w (v1.2) can not unlock iPhone 3GS/3G baseband 05.14.xx or 05.15.xx. To unlock these basebands, first you must use PwnageTool 4.1.3 to update your baseband to 06.15.00 and then you can unlock your iPhone with Ultrasn0w 1.2. This guide will explain you how you can use PwnageTool 4.1.3 to upgrade your iPhone 3G/3GS baseband to 06.15.00.

iPhone Dev-Team has released a special version of PwnageTool dubbed as PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition. You can use PwnageTool 4.1.3 to upgrade your iPhone 3GS/3G baseband to 06.15.00. Note that this PwnageTool release is only for those iPhone 3G/3GS users who are stuck on 05.14 or 05.15 baseband and want to unlock their device with Ultrasn0w.

Finally! As promised, iPhone Dev-Team has released Ultrasn0w (v1.2) tool to unlock iOS 4.1/4.2.1 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G. Ultrasn0w 1.2 can unlock 01.59.00 baseband on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS/3G basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and 06.15.00.

This Sunday will be a Funday :D MuscleNerd, who happens to be one of the core members of iPhone Dev-Team just tweeted that Ultrasn0w unlock for iPhone 3GS/3G (05.15.04/05.14.02 baseband) on iOS 4.1/4.2.1 will be available on this weekend. So all iPhone 3G/3GS users who accidentally updated to iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2/4.2.1 and found their device locked will be able to unlock their devices.

MFST.GUY has released PwnageTool bundle to jailbreak iOS 4.2 (GM) on iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom). You can use this bundle to patch the latest version of PwnageTool (v4.1.2). Once patched, you will be able to create custom IPSW iOS 4.2 GM which on restore through iTunes will jailbreak iOS 4.2 on iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom) without upgrading its baseband version.
