iPhone OS 4.0 Will Support Multitasking?

According to Apple Insider, iPhone OS 4.0 will be officially supporting Multitasking feature. You won't be needing to Jailbreak your iPhone to add multitasking feature to your iPhone. iPhone firmware 3.x is also capable of multitasking but this feature has been restricted by Apple in the said firmware mainly because of security and battery life issues. The current security model of iPhone will close any app you are running on your iPhone as soon as you press the home button which reduces the risk for spyware, adware and viruses.

iPhone Firmware 3.x itself provides multitasking for stock apps like Mail, iPod which keeps running in the background while you can browse the web, and do some other work. But you cant do the same with all iPhone apps. You must Jailbreak your iPhone in-order to run more than one app in parallel using apps like Multifl0w enables true multitasking on both iPhone and iPod touch. However Apple have plans to silence iPhone critiques this summer who loves to praise the rival Google's Android for its superiority in multitasking support.

Moreover with the new tap gestures revealed by iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 4, there is a possibility that Apple will be going to add new powers to the home screen button in order to support multitasking. Pressing and holding it for some time (Long Press Gesture), for example, could bring up an app switcher of some sort.

Next-gen iPhone 4G is expected to be released at WDDC, 2010. You can easily change the location of My Documents, My Pictures, My Videos, Music, Downloads & Desktop location in Microsoft Windows 7. Its a good pratice to store your data in a drive which don't have any OS installed in it! Once you have changed the location of these folders, you can easily use Faronics Deep Freeze to freeze your OS drive to keep it safe from viruses.

How To Change Location Of Personal Folders Of User In Windows 7

In Windows 7 all of the user personal folders will be located at
C:\Users\[UserName]\
If your Windows is installed in C: drive then create an empty folder in any other drive e-g D:\New Folder
Now if you want to change the location of My Documents then just right-click on it and choose Properties

Now go to Location tab and click on Move button. Browse for the New folder you created in D drive and click on Select Folder button. On clicking OK button, you will be asked to move all data from current folder to folder at new location. Click Yes!

iPad Tethering with iPhone Possible, No Says Steve Jobs

If you have thoughts about iPad tethering with iPhone, then following is the answer from Steve Jobs. A Swedish Apple fan had similar thoughts and he sent an email to Steve Jobs asking whether or not iPad will be able to tether with the iPhone. Email conversion is given below.

I’ll keep it short.
I’m Jezper from Sweden, a long time Apple fan, currently about to replace the very last computer at home with a brand spanking new iMac i7. I’m also awaiting the release of the iPad. However, I have one question:
Will the wifi-only version somehow support tethering thru my iPhone?
Two devices, based on the same OS, with already built-in technology to share one data plan suggests a secondary contract could possibly be redundant.
From the look of your keynote, where the iPad sits well between my MacBook Pro and my iPhone, I was hoping the three of them could interact as seamless as possible.

So it's pretty much clear now, iPad wont' be able to tether with the iPhone. May be they will include this functionality in later builts.

Putting all rumors about iPad delay aside, Apple has finally announced that iPad is coming to US on April 3rd with pre-orders starting on March 12th. Only WiFi models will be available to US customers now, iPad 3G models would be available in late April. For countries other than US including (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK), all iPad models will go on sale in late April.

Regarding price, WiFi-only models will be priced at $499 for the 16GB iPad, $599 for the 32GB iPad and $699 for the 64GB iPad. As of late-April, the 3G version of the tablet will go on sale, priced at $629, $729 and $829 respectively for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. For complete iPad details/specs hit here.

iPad Can Make Emergency Calls? Regular Calls?

It seems that Apple upcoming tablet iPad will allow you to make emergency calls too along with its video conferencing and basic photo editing feature. According to Gumballtech, using the latest iPhone 3.2 SDK for iPad, if you enter iPad passcode incorrectly 5 times consecutively, you will see an emergency call screen just like the one you see on your iPhone.

The above screen can be easily achieved by first enabling the passcode lock and then entering the wrong passcode 5 times consecutively. It will disable your iPad access for 5 mins and will show a slider which on sliding will display emergency call screen as shown below.

Apple may have included this functionality for 3G iPad models only to get it complaint with FCC regulations according to which "all wireless phones should be able to make emergency calls, even if the phones aren’t currently active or even assigned a number”.

This functionality of iPad may only be limited to making emergency calls because allowing regular calls on iPad will make it competitor to another similar Apple product called the iPhone which may effect its future iPhone sales.

Download Facebook Videos In Google Chrome

Wonder how you can download Facebook videos when you are addicted to Google Chrome? Yes you can easily download Facebook videos from Google Chrome's cache once they are completely streamed. Accessing Google Chrome cache is not that easy. So you have to download ChromeCacheView, a freeware software which enables you to access and download files from Google Chrome's cache.

Once Google Chrome is installed, just download ChromeCacheView. ChromeCacheView requires no installation as its portable. Now go to Facebook and watch / stream any video. Now open ChromeCacheView.exe and it will display you with the list of all files present in the cache. If ChromeCacheView.EXE is already running then click the Refresh button in the toolbar. Now sort the list according to Content Type and look for MP4 file. Select it and press Ctrl+S or simply navigate to File->Save Selected Items. Ur done! Enjoy the Facebook video in MP4 format!

Next Generation iPhone 4G To Cost Less Than Its Predecessors

According to an industrial analyst Katy Huberty, 85% of the people don't buy iPhone because of the hardware cost and 66% don't use iPhone because of high service charges. So iPhone hardware cost and service charges are the major issue in the mass level adoption of iPhone. Acc. to Huberty iPhone 4G will be less costly than is predecessors.

"We expect Apple to launch new iPhones in June that offer both a lower total cost of ownership and new functionality, potentially including gesture-based technology," she wrote in a new note to investors Friday.

Huberty remains bullish on Apple’s stock situation, and optimistic about the forthcoming iPad devices from the Cupertino based company, saying:

We expect Apple to ship its first iPad and announce additional content deals in late March to better than expected demand," Huberty wrote. "We see the iPad targeting the sub-$800 consumer notebook market which equates to 30M annual units just in the US (120M globally).

Last year when iPhone 3GS was released, Apple dropped the prices of iPhone 3G to 99$. However, despite the lower price point, the high end iPhone 3GS was still the most popular option for consumers.
In the past, Huberty was notoriously negative on AAPL stock, suggesting the iPhone was too expensive even at a $199 price point. In late 2008, she predicted that iPhone sales would suffer because Apple had priced the product too high. But last year, Huberty turned positive on Apple, stating that the company had become the "clear leader in the battle over the mobile Internet".

Enable / Fix Push Notifications on Hacktivated iPhone 3.1.3 With Push Doctor Fix

If you are using a hactivated iPhone, as in, you are running your iPhone 3.x on an unauthorized carrier, then Push Notifications functionality most probably won't work properly. There are few fixes available in market, prominent ones include "PushFix" via iPhoneil available in Cydia, but it wasn't a proper solution and it stopped working after a while as it used a single certificate for many users causing wrong push notifications and battery drainage issues. Later came PushFix Ver.2 which actually worked very well, basically the error/issue which was rectified in new release was that you get a unique certificate for your hactivated iPhone against your mobile EMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity).

Only problem in PushFix Ver.2 you may feel would be it's not being a free fix, but no worries! "Push Doctor" another push notifications fix has been released and what matters is that it's free! and has the support of iPhone Dev-Team as well. Like PushFix Ver.2, Push Doctor also issues a unique certificate for each device.

If you need Push Notifications functionality on firmware 3.1.3, then you should use Push Doctor to have it. Follow following steps to enable Push Notifications on iPhone 2G/3G/3GS running iPhone firmware 3.1.3, please note that you will need to have fully jailbroked and unlocked iphone operational on firmware 3.1.3, refer to guides given here and here respectively for jailbreaking and unlocking your iphone.

NOTE: If you already have previous Cydia PushFix, it's recommended to restore firmware 3.1.3 on your iPhone and start from beginning.

Start Cydia, Touch on "Edit" and then on "Add". You will be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type "http://cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/" and touch on "Add Source".

After this, simply search for "Push Doctor" app in Cydia and install it, when the installation finishes, reboot you phone.

That's all, you can now download any Push Capable App via App Store like IM+, Beejive IM, Ping or Boxcar. Push notifications should work fine on all apps.

HTC Sued By Apple Over 20 Patents

Apple has sued the Taiwan based phone giant HTC accusing its rival of violating patents related to the popular iPhone. Apple said that the rival smartphone maker has infringed on 20 patents covering aspects of the iPhone interface, user interaction and hardware. In a statement Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that his company will not all its competitors to steal patents of its inventions.

But Apple itself is facing litigations from Nokia over the technology used in the iPhone. Competition in smartphone arena has heated up in recent month especially with the launch of Google Android OS. HTC is the manufacture of Google Nexus One as well as its own devices. Sales of HTC products are immediately threatened as patents cases can take months or even years to resolve.
