Stefan Esser (@i0n1c), an independent security consultant and iOS hacker, who previously demoed iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak on his iPod Touch 4G has just passed his untethered exploit to iPhone Dev-Team for beta testing. In a reply to an unknown user on Twitter, MucleNerd confirmed that the exploit he received from Stefan for untethered iOS 4.3 and iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak is real and working for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Redsn0w 0.9.7b6, the untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak is available for download now. Beat 6 fixes all Skype related issues which were present since Beta 1. This version also requires iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs in Cydia. Now that both Bluetooth and Skype issues are resolved, iPhone Dev-Team will add iOS 4.1 Monte in next version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 to avoid iOS 4.2 beta 3 piracy.

Dev-Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. This version brings fix to all sandbox and Bluetooth related issues. This beta requires iOS 4.2b3 and iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs in Cydia. Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 also adds an "Anti-piracy plea" notice stating not to pirate iOS 4.2 beta 3 firmware.

Redns0w 0.9.7 Beta 4 has been released by iPhone Dev-Team for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. This version eliminates the necessity to install and run a separate usbmuxd process which has been causing problems for many Mac users. Rest, everything else is still same, two main issues (Bluetooth and Skype) are still there.

After releasing Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta1 & beta 2, iPhone Dev-Team has released 3rd beta of Redsn0w 0.9.7 for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. The second beta was brought to fix all app crash issues (Springboard and Task Switcher). Redsn0w 0.9.7b3 fixes even more bugs, particularly the ones releated to non-GUI programs which handle media contents mainly. Issues related to FaceTime, Winterboard themes, and embedded videos in iTunes should be resolved now.

As reported earlier, iPhone Dev-Team has just released their backup plan for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak in the form of Redsn0w 0.9.7b1. You can now jailbreak iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad (Untethered) on iOS 4.2.1 with Redsn0w 0.9.7.

Previously, Comex confirmed that untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4/3GS (New Bootrom), iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G (MC) and iPad will be released by this Christmas. The news has further been confirmed by MuscleNerd who just tweeted that untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4 is under development and will be available around Xmas. Current version of Redsn0w provides semi-tethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.

Good news for iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, Apple TV and iPad users. According to iPhone Dev-Team they have figured out a way which would eventually lead to untethered jailbreak of all future firmwares on iDevices powered by Apple A4 chips. MuscleNerd, who happens to be a member of iPhone Dev-Team confirmed this via his Twitter account just a while ago.

The newly shipped Apple TV has been jailbroken! MuscleNerd, has confirmed via Twitter that iPhone Dev-Team has finally managed to jailbreak Apple TV 2G running on iOS 4.1 by using PwnageTool based on the SHAtter exploit which was discovered by pod2g of Chronic Dev-Team.

Redsn0w 0.9.6b1 was released by Dev-Team today to jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G on iOS 4.1 (final built). Although this version of Redsn0w is not meant for iOS 4.2 Beta, but advance users may give it a try. MuscleNerd, Dev-Team member has also confirmed that Redsn0w 0.9.6b1 can be used to jailbreak iOS 4.2 Beta but it can be bugy with no guarantees. Try this at your own risk!
