You can download the app from App Store for free. The cool UI of the app pretty much resembles to the screenshots leaked couple of weeks ago.

You can use WLM app on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad to IM your friends, view and comment on their photos and update your status on WLM itself, Facebook and MySpace. WLM app allows you to see what your friends are sharing on their Flickr and YouTube account. Also you can access your Hotmail account and read, reply and compose emails with this app.

Courier was more like a booklet than a tablet as its both screens could flip together and close like a notebook. Overall it was an amazing invention which we are definitely going to miss.

At any given time, we're looking at new ideas, investigating, testing, incubating them. It's in our DNA to develop new form factors and natural user interfaces to foster productivity and creativity. The Courier project is an example of this type of effort. It will be evaluated for use in future offerings, but we have no plans to build such a device at this time.

According to the above snippet, Microsoft definitely don't have any plans to carry out the Courier Project but surely they will be using the concept in their future inventions. This definitely makes sense as the company at Redmond wants to focus more on the software part (Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7) rather than developing its own complete tablet to run the OS as the upcoming gadgets like HP Slate and Dell Lightening already will be using these OS. Tom Warren is the same person who made an announcement last year that Microsoft has plans to release an official iPhone app of Windows Live messenger.

Although there are number of third-party iPhone apps and sites like iPhone MSN which allows you to chat with your MSN contacts but this app will be officially released by Microsoft, hence it will be coming with more features and stability.

Browser Exploitation Challenge

In browser exploitation challenge the four browsers available for target were:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (Version 8 on Windows 7, Version 7 on Vista and XP)
  • Mozilla Firefox 3
  • Google Chrome 4
  • Apple Safari 4

$40,000 prizes were allocated for hacking the above browsers. All web-browser attacks were achieved by having the browser to visit a malicious web site. The details for prizes are as follows:

  • Charlie Miller, principal security analyst at Independent Security Evaluators, won $10,000 for hacking Safari on a MacBook Pro without physical access to the machine.
  • Nils (last name not known), head of research at UK-based MWR InfoSecurity, won $10,000 for hacking Firefox.
  • Peter Vreugdenhil, independent security researcher, won $10,000 for hacking Internet Explorer 8.

Cell Phone Hack Challenge

Following 4 cell phones were selected for the mobile hack challenge.

  • Apple iPhone
  • RIM Blackberry
  • Nokia Symbian
  • Google Android

iPhone Hacker Vincenzo IozzoVincenzo Iozzo and Ralf-Philipp Weinmann won $15,000 prize for hacking the famous Apple's iPhone by stealing its entire SMS database including even deleted messages. Like browser-hacks, they hacked iPhone by visited a malicious website they’d set up through the stock iPhone browser which uploaded the local SMS database to the server and then crashed the web-browser. Iozzo came, just when the contest was just winding down :P

Some words by Iozzo and Weinmann

The exploit was written to bypass the digital code signatures used on the iPhone to verify that the code in memory is from Apple. The exploit then looked for chunks in Apple's code that could be pieced together to accomplish the attack.

According to the experts, if the SMS database is accessible through this hack, these two hackers will be very much capable of stealing your contacts, photos, and other data on your iPhone. So never be assured that your iPhone is safe from such hackers ;)

  • Download the hacked .BIN file for Windows Phone OS 7.0 Build 7.0.0.6077 emulator image from XDA-Developers here.
  • Rename the file to WM70C1.bin and move it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\WindowsPhone\v7.0\Emulation\Images
  • Copy and paste the downloaded bin file

  • Now navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft XDE\1.0\ and for look for the executable named xde.exe, its the executable for Windows Phone 7 emulator.
  • If you will double click on xde.exe, it won't start the emulator. You can use it by passing certain command line parameters as follows:
    1. Assuming that you are in C:\Program Files\Microsoft XDE\1.0\, hold down SHIFT key, right-click and choose "Open command windows here" from the context menu.

      2. WP7S Emulator

    2. Now use the following command at command line as shown in the screenshot below

      3. xde.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\WindowsPhone\v7.0\Emulation\Images\WM70C1.bin

These were announced by Scott Guthrie, Corporate Vice President of the .NET Developer Platform in his keynote last week at MIX 2010, held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Phone Requirements For Windows Phone 7 OS

All Windows Phone 7 OS users need to have phone with:

  • 800 x 480 touch screens including four-point multi touch.
  • Snapdragon quality CPUs with DirectX 9 compatible GPUs.
  • A built in storage of 8GB.
  • A 5 Megapixel camera.

The Windows Phone 7 Series Developer Tools CTP includes the following:
