If you are expecting that the next iOS update will fix your iPhone 4’s signal reception issue then you are out of luck. Apple has confirmed that the signal reception issue in iPhone 4 is hardware related and the next iOS update will not fix the problem but will only change the way (accurate) your iPhone 4 will display the signal strength.

According to the recent update by Kyle Matthews, founder and owner of modmyi.com, iPhone Dev Team and Planetbeing are working hard to unlock iOS 4 on iPhone 4 whos baseband runs a completely different OS called ThreadX which is an RTOS (Real Time Operating System) unlike previous iPhone models. This new baseband OS requires complete rewrite of Ultrasn0w code to unlock iOS 4 on iPhone 4.
