I am not sure whether the app is real or not as it is not available on the App Store, moreover there is no link given to buy or download the app in the video description. If any of you have any official or unofficial link to download or buy this app, please do share it in comments.

If you've updated to 4.1beta2 on iPhone3G or iPod2G(non-MC), you can use this redsn0w from June to jailbreak. Just point it at the 4.0 IPSW (the public one, not the developer GM one).

(Yes – point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you're at 4.1beta2).

Don't do this if you need the ultrasn0w carrier unlock!!

Note 1: This won't hacktivate your iPhone3G – but for those with legit access to the 4.1beta2 this shouldn't matter. Please don't pirate Apple software

Note 2: If you're at 4.1beta2 you'll probably experience network problems after jailbreaking. Until a new version of redsn0w is released, you may need to rely on afc2 access (such as FunBox-like file browser programs) to manipulate your filesystem.

Note 3: This is recommended only for power users who can deal with the problems that will pop up as the JB apps fall further behind the beta firmwares.

The procedure for jailbreaking iOS 4.1 Beta 2 with Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 is exactly similar to the procedure for jailbreaking iOS 4.1 Beta 1. Just restore your iPhone / iPod Touch to iOS 4.1 Beta 2 with iTunes and point Redsn0w at iOS 4.0 IPSW (final release, not the GM one). You can follow this step-by-step guide for jailbreaking iOS 4.0.1 Beta 2 with Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5. Remember that this jailbreak will not hactivate your iPhone, moreover you might experience network problems after the jailbreak.

Although its a good precaution set by Apple to save your iPhone battery but sometimes it is quite tiresome job to keep your iPhone from going into sleep mode specially when you are downloading a YouTube video. Follow the guide below to keep your Wifi on even your iPhone goes to sleep mode.

All you need is two things: Activator and KeepAwake. Both of these tools are available via Cydia. Activator can be installed via BigBoss repo and KeepAwake can be installed via iSpazio repo. Both of these repositories are pre-installed with Cydia. So there is no need to add any repository. Just open Cydia and search for Activator and KeepAwake as shown in the screenshot below:

Install both of them and reboot your device.

Once Activator and KeepAwake is installed, navigate to Settings->Activator->Anywhere->Volume Buttons (Display Tap). Now scroll down and select KeepAwake under SBSettings Toggles section.

To activate or deactivate your Wifi, click on the volume buttons on the side of your device and tap on the speaker icon once to toggle the Wifi mode.

Phone shipping has been delayed until later this year.

According to Apple, the reasons for extra delay are still manufacturing challenges but as per some critics, there are some issues with white iPhone 4 screen / glass leading to this huge delay in launch.

White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.

All these speculations about white iPhone 4 screen defects could be wrong, but if there is some truth in these statements then Apple surely doesn't want to make another mistake by launching a premature white iPhone 4 with any defect. Apple is already combating iPhone 4 antenna reception issues.

How To Jailbreak iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom) on iOS 4.0.1 with PwnageTool Bundles

*Find download links at the end of post. This is an unofficial release. So please avoid it if you are new to jailbreaking and unlocking. However i have tested the procedure below myself and its working fine.

  1. *Download iOS 4.0.1 for iPhone 3GS
  2. *Download iTunes 9.2.1
  3. *Download PwnageTool
  4. *Download PwnageTool Bundles
  5. Create a new folder on desktop and put PwnageTool, iOS 4.0.1 IPSW and PwnageTool Bundles in it. Rename folder to JB.

    6. PwnageTool iOS 4.0.1

  6. Now open Terminal and use the following commands to patch PwnageTool.

    7. cd /Users/UserName/Desktop/JB
    ls -al
    mv iPhone2,1_4.0.1_8A306.bundle PwnageTool.app/Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/
    exit

  7. After using the above commands, your PwnageTool will be patched and the JB folder will now contain only two files i-e iOS 4.0.1 IPSW and PwnageTool (Patched)

    8. PwnageTool iOS 4.0.1

Thats it. You have successfully patched the PwnageTool with the bundles and now its ready to cook a custom IPSW of iOS 4.0.1 for iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom). Above video clearly explain what's happening with iPhone 3G with iOS 4. I myself own an iPhone 3G and I faced numerous problems like slowness, apps crash, phone restarting, less battery backup, unresponsive controls etc after updating to iOS 4. Finally I had to downgrade my iPhone 3G to iOS 3.1.2 and it's working fine now.

Solutions / Remedies?

First of all, if you have an iPhone 3G and you are planning to update iOS 4 on it then please do yourself a favor and save the time you would be wasting to make iOS 4 perform well on your iPhone, by NOT updating iOS 4 on your iPhone 3G. Updating iOS 4 on iPhone 3G isn't really worthy! Only new features along with numerous minor improvements you get are Folders and Improved Mailbox. Multitasking as we all know is included in the package for iPhone 3G.

If you already have updated iOS 4 on your iPhone 3G then you may try few things before downgrading OS of your phone. Hard reset your iPhone 3G couple of times, turn all unnecessary settings off, uninstall unnecessary Cydia tweaks/apps. If you are still facing problems after trying these workarounds then proceed with following guides to downgrade firmware of your iPhone 3G.

Downgrade to OS 3.1.3 / OS 3.1.2

You may downgrade your iPhone 3G to OS 3.1.3 or OS 3.1.2, there isn't much difference other than few minor bug fixes in OS 3.1.3. I downgraded my iPhone 3G to OS 3.1.2. Step by step procedure for downgrading to OS 3.1.3 is given here, and here for OS 3.1.2.
