How to Fix iPhone Not Ringing When Someone Calls

Have you ever had the annoying experience when suddenly your iPhone is not ringing when someone calls or you don’t get any sounds when you receive a new message? This is actually quite a common occurrence for iPhone owners and it can be downright baffling especially for novice users. So here are some troubleshooting tips on how to fix iPhone not ringing when someone calls.

How to Fix iPhone Not Ringing When Someone Calls?

Disable Do Not Disturb

Disable Do Not Disturb
When your iPhone is not ringing or not making any alert sounds out of the blue, there’s a very good chance that it is because of the Do Not Disturb feature. Do Not Disturb is a fantastic feature when used properly but it can lead to missed calls or text messages and confusing scenarios when you have it enabled accidentally.

The fastest way to tell if your iPhone is in Do Not Disturb mode is to look at your status bar and see if the moon icon is present. If it’s there, then you have the feature enabled. This feature is easily enabled (thus you can turn it on accidentally) or disabled via the Control Center.

Disable Airplane Mode

If you’re on Airplane mode, then you will not be able to receive any text messages or calls at all. Again, this is a feature that is quickly and easily enabled through the Control Center, so there are times that you can accidentally enable Airplane mode. Look for the airplane icon in your status bar to determine if you have Airplane mode enabled or not.

Enable Ringer Switch

There are times that you have switched off the ringer switcher during a class or while you’re at work and forgot to turn it back on. If that’s the case, then you won’t be getting any ringing or alerts. The Ringer switch is located on the left side of your phone. If the Ringer switch is turned off, the orange strip should be visible.

If you haven’t managed to resolve the issue by following these troubleshooting steps, you can try rebooting your iPhone. If the problem persists, you might want to take your device to Apple and have it checked.
