Although, iOS 9 has brought plenty of new features into the table, there are some glaring omissions which continue to baffle users. One such omission is the addition of a fully-functional night mode. The dominant white background of the system can cause serious eye-strain with prolonged use. Not to mention, the glare from the screen can make it hard for you to fall asleep. It’s a good thing that there’s a new tweak that adds night mode for iOS 9, if you’re jailbroken that it.
A few weeks ago, developer Guillermo Morán has released the beta version of a jailbreak tweak called Eclipse with support for iOS 9. Eclipse is not a new jailbreak tweak since it has been on Cydia since iOS 7. Basically, Eclipse is a lightweight solution for bringing a fully-functional night mode to iOS. The night mode colors are applied system-wide and the tweak is even compatible with many third-party applications.
The new version called Eclipse 3 is now available in Cydia. Like most “decent” Cydia tweaks, Eclipse comes with a couple of settings to configure and compatible with Activator and Flipswitch toggles. Aside from iOS 9 compatibility, the new version will be disabled by default for third-party apps. This way, you can just choose which apps to whitelist to benefit from the night mode colors.
The Eclipse 3 tweak is a great way to enjoy night mode on your iOS 9 device and reduce eye strain at nighttime. The developer said that future updates will be rolled out for the tweak including iPad support. The Eclipse 3 tweak is available in Cydia for $0.99 under the BigBoss repo.
