Confirmed: iPhone 6S & 6S Plus Have 2GB RAM, iPad Pro Has 4GB

When marketing a smartphone or tablet, one of the main components that companies tend to highlight is the RAM. But Apple had done things differently. Whenever a new iPhone or iPad is announced, Apple doesn’t or rarely mentions just how much RAM is under the hood. That seems to be the case with the iPhone 6S and iPad Pro, even the official tech specs don’t make a reference to the RAM. Well, someone did some digging and found the RAM specs for both the iPhone 6S and iPad Pro.

iPhone 6S RAM
Prominent iOS developer Hamza Sood (@hamzasood) was able to confirm that both the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will come with 2GB of RAM. He was also able to confirm that the iPad Pro comes with a larger RAM (considering its mammoth size) at 4GB. This seems to be in conjunction with what Adobe has accidentally revealed about the iPad Pro’s RAM during its press release.

Sood was able to confirm the RAM for these devices by running a simple test in Xcode (shown in the posted screenshots). On a follow-up tweet, he explains that the image asset is selected based on the memoryClass key.

This revelation seems to coincide with the numerous predictions about the RAM spec of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. With that said, the 2GB on the new iPhones should be another reason for iPhone 6 owners to upgrade since the previous gen phones only have 1GB of RAM. [via iPhoneHacks]
