With Apple’s September 9 event closing in, you can expect that Apple will announce its next generation iPhones. If you are someone who always wants to be updated in tech or simply waiting to upgrade in a long time, then you are probably thinking of selling your old iPhone. Before you go into the business of selling your old iPhone or iPad, there are important steps that you need to take.
The idea is to wipe your iPhone or iPad clean so it’s ready for sale. You will not only be protecting your sensitive information, it will be convenient for your buyer as well. Be sure that you perform these steps:
Backup all data via iTunes
Of course, you will want to hold on to important information on your iPhone or iPad. This step should be a cinch if you regularly backup your device via iTunes. Backing up via iCloud is viable as well but nothing beats backing up your data locally.
Sign out of iCloud
You don’t want your soon-to-be-buyer logging in to your iCloud account, so make sure that you sign out of your iCloud account. Plus, a good deal of data will be unavailable from your iDevice so you don’t have to manually remove them. Launch iCloud and tap on your account ID, then tap Sign out to logout of your account.
Sign out from your accounts within apps
For good measure, make sure that you log out from all of your frequently-used apps. The usual apps include Gmail, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Skype and many more. Alternatively, you can just uninstall all the mentioned apps which you should do anyway for effective cleanup.
Erase all content and settings
Now for the final step, we will completely erase all content and settings on your iPhone or iPad. This will wipe out all your photos, videos, media files, preferences etc. Essentially, this will give you a fresh iPhone or iPad, software wise. Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Review everything and see to it that everything has been signed out and all sensitive information has been deleted. Now, your iPhone or iPad is ready for sale.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
